Transcurría la mañana del 09 de Enero de 2020, cuando el recién nombrado Presidente del Instituto de deporte del Estado Bolívar (Idebol), el Ing. Iván Hernández Pontón anunciaba el inicio de las obras para recuperar el Complejo de Piscinas Olímpica y fosa de Saltos Ornamentales, afirmando que el señor Gobernador MG Justo Noguera Pietri “es un enamorado del proyecto y sabemos que se trata de un emblema del estado, en el que concretaremos cosas importantes…”
Así se manifestaba el titular de la cartera de deportes hace ya año y medio durante el anuncio del inicio de las obras. Enfatizaba El Ing. Ivan Ponton “El tema de las piscinas olímpicas será uno de los estandartes dentro de los que corresponde a la gestión 2020 en el ámbito deportivo, de nuestro MG Justo Noguera Pietri, que está empecinado, es un enamorado del proyecto y sabemos que se trata de un emblema del estado, y este año de seguro concretaremos cosas importantes en tal sentido…” Hoy 31 de junio de 2021 pudimos constatar el abandono total de la obra a que calificaron de “Estandarte de la gestión deportiva del 2020”.

La paralización de esta obra ha sido motivo de molestia para los vecinos del sector, y para el resto de la localidad, la piscina olímpica ha sido parte de la vida contemporánea de la ciudad, un espacio para el esparcimiento y la socialización de niños y jóvenes, de todos los estratos sociales sin distinción, además de ser lugar de formación atlética y deportiva de alta competencia, era un lugar donde se forjaba el carácter a base de disciplina y trabajo diario.
Según pudimos constatar con algunos vecinos del sector, y algunas personas que se acercaron, como el caso del profesor Barceló quien afirmaba: “los vecinos del sector de la Piscina Olímpica estamos denunciando el estado de deterioro y abandono en que se encuentra; ya esta situación lleva años y no hay nada” agregaba este vecino que: “Se han anunciado ya dos reparaciones, y solo vienen unos obreros, se han hecho unas inspecciones, se han retirado escombros y más nada, no hay acciones contundentes para resolver este problema” para finalizar agregó que: “La comunidad y Ciudad Bolívar necesitan esto, ya que aquí había escuela de natación para los niños de toda la ciudad y ahora estamos en total abandono”
Otro vecino que acompaño, identificado como Ramon Díaz nos decía: “queremos que la piscina se reactive, que esté operativa como la teníamos anteriormente de verdad que queremos justicia, queremos que nuestros hijos disfruten de su rato de esparcimiento y que eso funcione como lo teníamos antes”
Pudimos conocer también la denuncia del Joven Oscar Rojas Coordinador municipal de Juventudes de Primero Justicia en el Municipio Angostura del Orinoco, en la cual destacaba entre otras cosas, el efecto negativo que ha traído para la economía de la ciudad, ya que las competencias que se llevaban a cabo en la piscina eran factor de impulso a la actividad hotelera y de servicios de la ciudad, especificamente restaurantes, hoteles, y comercios de la zona, generando un impacto positivo en la ciudadanía en general.
Pudimos constatar, la veracidad de la denuncia de los vecinos, el aspecto de la piscina, es un escenario triste y desolador, todas las oficinas fueron derrumbadas y así quedaron, no existen baños ni puertas, las fosas están sucias, y llenas de agua estancada, que es un ambiente ideal para la proliferación de plagas y zancudos, convirtiéndose en foco de riesgo y trasmisión de enfermedades como el Zika o el Dengue, más ahora que se aproximan las lluvias.
Por ahora lo que seria «Un Estandarte de la gestión deportiva del 2020» del Instituto del Deporte y de la Gobernación del Estado Bolívar, No ha pasado de ser un «Estandarte del retraso y las promesas incumplidas en materia de infraestructura deportiva en Ciudad Bolívar».
