Ubicada en Ciudad Guayana (estado Bolívar, Venezuela), está la Catedral San Juan Pablo II. Debemos terminar de construirla, para el disfrute de los habitantes tanto de Puerto Ordaz como de San Félix, quienes la sienten suya y se la merecen. Al plantearnos el reto, pensamos en los recursos necesarios, inmediatamente. Pero, debemos estar conscientes de que en este caso el recurso más importante no es el financiero, sino el humano y el social. Sinceramente, creo que el capital social colectivo que debemos crear con los interesados del proyecto constituye nuestro mayor desafío. Además, requerimos de tecnología social, para alcanzar el objetivo del proyecto, y una buena dosis de un liderazgo que sea, al mismo tiempo: responsable, efectivo y adaptativo.
Es un hermoso proyecto, cuyo gerente es el Padre Gerardo Moreno, Párroco de la Catedral. A su lado, como su asistente, está el ingeniero Guillermo Canelón, comprometido como siempre con el desarrollo integral de esa gran ciudad. La obra lleva ya más de 20 años en construcción, por eso es conveniente crear expectativas ciertas sobre los próximos pasos a desarrollar y no confundir a la gente con falsas ilusiones. El techo de la Catedral; ese es el objetivo a lograr, a corto plazo. Para ello, es indispensable relacionarnos con personas e instituciones que puedan ayudarnos (stakeholders). Son especialmente importantes los contactos, relaciones y apoyos, a nivel internacional, que podamos establecer; y, seguramente, con el favor de Dios y la ayuda de personas de buena voluntad, como Thomas Obermüller, lo vamos a conseguir, muy pronto.
Nos hemos planteado el uso de la Tecnología Social SAI, para lograr ejecutar la construcción del techo, contando con los planos de ingeniería existentes, desde hace ya bastante tiempo. En lo personal, por vivir actualmente en Canadá, cuando pienso en la Catedral de Ciudad Guayana, no puedo dejar de cavilar sobre la titánica tarea acometida por San Andrés Bessette, a quien se debe la construcción de una obra monumental: El Oratorio de San José, en Montreal. Aparte de tratarse del oratorio más espectacular del mundo dedicado a San José de Nazaret, es una de las cúpulas más grandes del planeta. Curiosamente, en 1982, el Papa San Juan Pablo II beatificó al “Hermano Andrés”, como lo llama su pueblo; y, en 1984, visitó el Oratorio y rezó frente a su tumba. Luego, en 1985, en Ciudad Guayana, en la “Cruz del Papa” (desde entonces llamamos así ese lugar), celebró la Santa Misa, en el mismo sitio donde está hoy su Catedral.
Debemos identificar fuentes de financiamiento para terminar de construir nuestra Catedral, en el menor tiempo posible, acudiendo a instancias locales, nacionales e internacionales. También, la creación de grupos de trabajo, dedicados a distintas tareas, es fundamental. El área de las finanzas es la más delicada de todas y requiere del mayor control y transparencia posibles. Otras áreas son: Ingeniería, Relaciones Institucionales, Comunidad, etc. Para la formación de capital social colectivo, el área comunitaria es la que requiere de mayor dedicación, en energía y tiempo. Todos los sectores geográficos y sociales de la ciudad deben verse representados.
Formar comunidad, en torno a la Catedral, es igual o más importante que su construcción, hecha de cabilla y cemento. Por eso proponemos el uso de la Tecnología Social SAI, para dinamizar y monitorear ese proceso. Tenemos que comenzar por crear equipos de trabajo, con la activa participación de la feligresía, incluyendo a sus familiares y amigos, en todas las urbanizaciones, barrios y caseríos de Ciudad Guayana. La obra tendrá una profunda repercusión espiritual, pero también en lo cultural y turístico, porque será una edificación emblemática, al recordarnos la presencia de San Juan Pablo II entre nosotros. Significará, además, un nuevo amanecer para Ciudad Guayana, más bella y esplendorosa que nunca. De nosotros depende hacerlo realidad.
